Bees Nest
Now that call outs for bees nests have slowed down I had set aside Tuesday morning to visit some of the commercial properties that have taken out a monthly/6 monthly/yearly contract with me to make sure their business remains free from pest problems.
Blog!
First, I was off to Preston, calling off at a Chorley Pub on the way (for work, not a drink!) The Pub contacted me 6 months ago when they had a rat in the bar area. The rat was showing its self as soon as the last customer had left and its visits were getting earlier each night and it was only a matter of time before a customer saw it. So the next night I was at the bar as it closed and had a number of traps set and in place ready for the visitor. An early morning followed the next day before the bar was open for breakfast, luckily our furry friend had been caught and the landlord was keen to make sure there was no more similar problems and he signed up for a yearly contract. So this morning was just about checking the bait stations around the property and having a good search inside and out, to make sure there were no signs of rat/mouse activity.
I was soon on my way to visit 2 more similar pest control contracts in Preston when a call came in from a Preston resident with a rather different pest problem. She had heard scratching behind the fireplace and presuming a rat had called me. A quick look revealed the noise was coming from a bird that had fallen down the chimney and was now sat on top of the flue. An awkward 10 minutes past during which I became covered in soot before the bird, which turned out to be a wood pigeon, could be released back into the garden. A chimney cover was quickly ordered, leaving one more happy, relieved Preston resident. So a nice change and a reminder that pest control in Preston isn’t always about rats, mice, wasps and bee’s!
