Bees and Bee Swarms.
From early spring and into the summer I get many calls from all around Lancashire and Greater Manchester from concerned homeowners when they have suddenly realized that they have massive numbers of bees and bee swarms in or around their homes and gardens. One of the first things I do is try to reassure them that they are not in most cases in any danger. On arriving at a property I will try to prove this by often sitting near to the entrance to the bee nest or right next to a swarm. Bees are in the vast majority of cases totally docile (but maybe don’t try getting to close yourself, I know the danger signs!)
I will always recommend that where possible you simply leave the bees in peace, if you have a bee swarm then you should consider yourself very privileged. Though I do recognise that bees will make nests in areas that make it difficult to exist along side them sometimes even filling your home in their vast numbers. In these cases a pest controller may destroy the nest legally, but one should always consider every option of living alongside them first.
