Well winter is nearly here and pest controllers in Chorley, just like pest controllers all around the country are stocking up with rat and mouse baits ready for the weather getting colder. Most areas have the odd mouse and rat around at various times of the year but as the wet and cold weather starts to creep in so we see an increase in those rodents coming into our homes and businesses.
What has been interesting is this annual increase in calls seems to have started earlier in the Chorley area this year. Maybe this is just a reflection of a higher than normal population of rodents in the area and the winter calls have not yet started? Many calls have been linked to populations of rats present in the sewers and drains, so many visits have included a period of sewer baiting as well as dealing with the problem rats that have entered a property.
As ever a number of calls have been linked to bird tables and bird feeding, this includes those that keep a few chickens in their garden, an increasingly popular activity. Unfortunately this will lead to an increase in rat populations in peoples gardens. When undertaking mice and rat pest control in Chorley,as in all areas, a big part of a pest controllers job will include advice and education.
