These jobs range from keeping sparrows out of a domestic loft to larger scale projects on city center buildings and other public areas . We have at our disposal all the traditional means of keeping birds away from sensitive areas such as netting and pigeon/bird proofing spikes. But unlike many pest control companies we have the experience to use and fit them correctly. This may seem like a simple and quite obvious thing to say but if you simply take the time to observe a lot of bird proofing jobs around our town centers, you will see a great number of areas with spikes and netting but where the pigeons or other birds seem to be carrying on as normal. I have even seen pigeons nesting among badly fitted pigeon spikes!!

During the spring we are often contacted with regards to birds nesting in undesirable areas. We have both the experience and knowledge to advise on bird proofing matters taking into account all up to date and relevant legislation on bird protection. All bird species are protected but as pest controllers we are granted powers under and open general licence to deal with certain problems at certain times. As the relevant laws and the terms of the licence are constantly changing, it is important that any work that takes place is done correctly so as to legally protect both the pest control company concerned and also the property or land owner.
Over recent years another tool has been added to the pest controllers armory when dealing with bird problems and that is the introduction of ‘bird free optical gel’. This product, which sounds like a wild idea at first, is one of the most useful inventions introduced to the pest control market in recent years. It is simply a gel substance that is laid in small trays and fixed to problem areas. When bird species, mainly pigeons and gulls, see the gel it gives off a UV glow, even in low light conditions. This appears to the birds as fire and of course they are instantly repelled from the area.
